This gave me Tommy Hutton game chills. Choke City followed by a last gasp chance to save it only to be dashed away.

This was the worst regular season loss ever. At least the worst since week 2 in 2006.

              PITIFUL

Through three quarters, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had 68 yards passing. In the fourth, he threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns.

The Joe Webb game was bad because it cost the Eagles a bye when the NFC title was there to be had. Green Bay won the Super Bowl out of the sixth seed (and beat the Eagles).

I know the Eagles controlled their own destiny at that point, but I guess the fact that they still had week 17 to fuck everything up made that loss seem a little less extreme. Also the fact that Vick was the QB and I never realistically thought they'd win anything with him.

I think something about ridiculous early season losses makes them worse. By the time the Eagles have a horrible late season loss, they're usually in such a position because they're not the class of the NFC. These early season losses happen while I still have hopes.
