Shows were so much cheaper back then it didn't matter too much if the weather sucked. Also getting tickets was more of a fair deal than it is nowadays. Ticket availability was still rigged, though.--------

I still have an unused ticket to the Stones’ opening show at JFK in 1981. My buddy had bought a number of tickets (on Ticketmaster!) before the show, and he still had seven to scalp when we got down there. I agreed to buy another one and try to scalp it. Tickets were going for three dollars and there were still guys holding stacks of tickets desperately trying to get anything for them. As we were walking around with Thorogood playing, a gate opened up right in front of us and we said fuck it we’re going in.
I heard that when school let out and the college and high school students got the wordthat cheap tickets were available they came down to the stadium and saw the Stones for three dollars.

If you are willing to wait until the final minutes and will take what is available you can get a deal. At some point people want to cut their losses.--------
