Giants proved that a hot hand can win out, but I think something like 9 of the last 10 #1 overall seeds (in each conf) made the Super Bowl. Dallas is the exception.

That being said, Saints look likely to continue that trend. The Chiefs look fine, but they're coached by the FF, so I know how that ends.
