They are overpaying, especially on the back end. Dunno about grossly, but certainly they'll open near market rate and lose value over the long term vs production

I don't think the back end of this contract is as bad as most. He'll start the last year of it at age 35. A guy like Harper could still play very well at that age.

My biggest concerns about Harper are his douchiness and ability to play in Philadelphia. These are usually a bigger concern in more team-oriented sports than baseball, but they're still relevant imo.
