I disagree that the back half will look bad. Bryce Harper is 26. He's not the kind of player who will suck at 32-33 years old. I think he'll he overpaid for the last 3 or so years, but it's worth it to get him at a cheaper price for the first 10. Plus, with the DH coming to the NL at some point, Harper could have value even in his late 30s.

He hit .248 last year but he’s obviously immensely talented. He makes you guys better for next few years, that’s for sure.
Most of these mega deals don’t work out too well over time. 13 years is absolute insanity.
ARod (first one sort of worked out. Not 2nd)

Howard
Miguel Cabrera

I mean, the Dodgers were willing to give him 180M over 4 years, and Bryce was like "nah, that's cool, I will play an extra 9 years in Philly for a grand total of an extra 150M." That should earn a huge amount of good will with fans that understand the business side of thing.
When all is said and done, Harper is going to be beloved in this town. He gives the Phils the cache they need to land other big stars.Last edited by 06hawkalum; 03-01-2019, 09:15 AM.
