He did double the guaranteed money. From my perspective, those are the only numbers that matter when it comes to NFL contracts. You need only look at Jason Peters signing a new deal that paid him roughly 3 million less with no years added to the deal to understand that.

So its a push if you consider 14.5 mill franchise tag plus 17 mill in guaranteed money is slightly less than 35 mill in guaranteed money.
