Herrera arrested for Assault in AC

Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera has been arrested on a domestic assault allegation in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The 27-year-old former All-Star was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Golden Nugget Casino and charged with simple assault, Atlantic City police said.

Police found the 20-year-old victim speaking to hotel security. She had “visible signs of injury to her arms and neck” that were caused by Herrera during a dispute, police said.

The woman refused medical treatment, investigators said. Herrera was arrested in his hotel room without incident, police said.

It is what it is. None the less, the team can figure it out quickly and if it's true, they should just cut him.

Having defended a few dozen of these though, "visible signs of injury to her arms and neck" ends up being very specious. Many stories were of clients trying to stop or brace a person from continually assaulting them. YMMV, but it's a common defense.

ETA: No mention of a protective order or Temp Restraining Order, which makes that story a little more likely. However, many DV victims often refuse them for a number of reasons.

So sick of these idiots putting their hands on women. It’s out of control and the major league sports must ALL put an end to allowing these guys to stay around. It’s the only answer...
