Snedeker won the FedEx last year and was killing it early this year before he tweaked something (chest muscle?) ... anyway, if he plays like he was before he took time off, he's a pretty serious contender IMO.

EDITED TO ADD: Eldrick ain't out of this at all ... he should have the lead except for that doink into the water off the flagstick at 15.

I just checked ESPN's site ... I hadn't even seen that ... had some car troubles this morning and never watched TV or went on line until now.

Tiger was just assessed a 2 stroke penalty for his drop on 15. He is supposed to drop as close to the original shot as possible and he was back 3 or 4 feet.

edit: Weird situation, apparently they changed the rule last year to allow for a 2 stroke penalty in situations like this instead of a DQ

Yeah I just saw that ... apparently the PGA changed some rule to allow someone who already signed their card to call the violation on themselves and not be DQ'ed.

The rule change probably had something to do with that shit in the Masters back in the 60s when some guy got disqualified because his playing partner put the wrong number on his scorecard and he signed it ... but I'm not sure of that.

Anyway, I don't know the rule, and I understand it's complicated, but I truly wonder if it was discretionary to any degree how the interpretation would have gone for anyone but Eldrick.

PS - there is a stink on the Masters now IMO ... particularly when they nickel and dimed that kid and apparently lots of people who know more than me about the rules think they bent into a pretzel for Woods.
