  • OK -- I've Crawled Out Of The Corner And Stopped Sucking My Thumb

After sleeping on it a couple of days I guess I have to concede that maybe Lane Johnson was a good pick.

I can not praise him like he's the best thing since sliced bread the way many of the rest of youse guys have. He's a work in progress -- he's only been a tackle for two years, but if he's this good now, how good will he be in a few years when he knows what he's doing (sorry, I still gotta be me)?

As for Zach Ertz, for IronLousewort's information I really like him for two reasons. One, he's 6-5, 249 and Kelly calls him "a matchup nightmare" for many D-backs, even in the NFL. The second reason is that he can split wide and doesn't look out of place, and that fulfills my desire for a TALL "wideout" to target in the red zone. He won't kill you with speed, but if he can go up and catch the ball 15 or 20 yards down field he's still going to make this a better offense.

    Here endeth the lesson.

Maniac complaining about not addressing a need and KG knows they signed a red zone threat. I like it

What Would You Call A 6-5 Guy With Hands?

College is not the NFL but everything I've heard about this guy says he's considerably more polished than your average college tight end because of Stanford's offensive system.

By the way, I liked Kelly admission to a reporter's question that, "I know defense wins championships," but I'm wondering why he didn't remember that in the first round.

      Just sayin'!!

Maybe he knows what I think a lot of us think on the bored, that we ain't winning a Super Bowl next year regardless so he's picking the best player available. That or he's a shitty drafter, only time will tell.

Well thats not exactly what I said but who would argue with Kelly Green.

And I remember everyone clamoring for another tight end before the draft.

maybe I'm missing the boat - but the whole reason you're upset about the ertz pick is because its not addressing a need, right?

And while we were all in on defense, Chipper was eyeing up Tight Ends for weeks

And here's the only reason having Vick around this season is a positive...let Vick get killed while Johnson gets up to speed and the Eagles get a better draft pick next year to select their QB

The reason i dislike the pick is because I know defense is a greater need and that its easier to find solid tight ends later in the draft if kelly feels he needs another one.

Quarterback May Come Today According To Ray Diddy

Ray Didinger says Kelly likes quarterback Matt Scott, who took over for Kevin Kolb at Arizona. He's used to running a read/option offense, doesn't have the strongest arm (neither did Joe Montana) but he's very accurate and doesn't force passes into coverage.

Didinger also has a strong feeling the Eagles might take center Barrett Jones from Alabama -- 6-5, 306. While he admits the Birds don't have a pressing need for a center, the kid has also played guard and tackle -- and the fact the Eagles new O-line coach coached the kid at Bama makes it logical that he might push Kelly to take him.
