The constant reference to Belicheat using the Oregon play book is way off. NE uses pro sets and has a once in a coaches lifetime QB who can execute a up tempo scheme consistency and success and who has a very unique ability to do quick reads at the line. Add to that his passing accuracy and ability to get rid of he ball in 2 plus seconds and you have the reason why the offense in NE has its success.

We don't know what Chip ball will turn out to look like with the Eagles. But if it has anything to do with Vick taking on the added responsibilities that Brady took on to make that scheme sussessful.......chip ball will go the way of the Lonesome End and the Edsel.

When Chip heads back to college in 2015, lets get a coach back here who leaves the gimmicks in the closet and brings back a strong defense oriented program that returns respect back here and can compete for a title. You don't need to be the best D to win but you can't be bad. This D is bad.

If Bledsoe had never gotten hurt that guy would still be a 2nd QB.

What Chip is trying to do is to tire out the defense early in the game based on the fact that once a player gets past a certain threshold of tiredness, no amount of rest is going to bring him back that day. ( Science)

By having a very high tempo offense, its not just about the X's and O's. Its about using the pace to give yourself an advantage in the 4th quarter

IF the other NFL teams don't practice at a frenetic pace, they simply won't be able to hang with the Eagles late in a game, especially the big guys on the DL. (Tactics + Strategy)

To me, that's the potential advantage of the Chip Kelly system- stressing the mental part by using schemes they aren't used to and stressing the physical part of the defense by being fast & relentless.

"Fatigue makes cowards of us all"

What we are seeing now is the league-wide transition from Huge Guys, to faster more athletic guys. Read-option can work if you have better athletes, but the X' and O's alone won't get you where you want to go. That's why adding the fast pace component makes a big difference

Football is becoming basketball on grass instead of wrestling on grass. Line up and smashmouth is dying, while spread 'em out and tire 'em out is growing and the safety-related rules changes favor this approach

        The game always evolves....

Will it work ? Time will tell but true innovation always has a place in the NFL

        .
So Chip will be the first HC in the history of the NFL that will try to tired out the Defense?. I remember the Jim Kelly K-Gun offense in which the Bills ran the no huddle at some point. Brady ran the no huddle at times, even Manning.

How long will that last? Most of the time the offense looks more tired if anything when running it. You got to have conditioned OL that don't tired out with a quick thinking QB that have the next 2 plays in advance already in his head. Do we have a guy like that on our current roster? OL?

Lack of time disrupts people. Less time between plays limits what a defense can do. With less time its more difficult for a defense to change personnel or go from a base package to a nickel or dime. We've seen what problems a hurry up offense did to the Eagles under Reid.

Chip Kelly seems to understand the value of time. I don't think Andy Reid ever did.

"Just go like that [raising three fingers], and three tight ends go into the game. If they go three linebackers, we split 'em up and throw passes. If they go three DB's, we smash 'em. Pick your poison," Kelly said. "It's a simple game. You thought coaching was hard. If they bring in little guys, you run the ball. If they bring in big guys, you throw the ball."

Well, since we're trashing Chip Kelly before the season even started, let me trash on this guy too then.

Chip Kelly offense sux! If his offense was any good, his team would have score a TD every possesion they got! He should have had 4-5 national championship by now if it was unstoppable.

There, you have it. Proof that Chip Kelly's offense sux!

Sounds good and looks good from Chip Kelly's own words, but these are basic fundamentals that every HC in the univerese knows except FF

                swish from the corner
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

You mean he's gonna put his players in a better position to succeed?

Actually a lot of good posts in this thread pro and con. Much better than wait and see. Jaws analysis is flimsy.

But don't use coachspeak as evidence of coaching qualifications.
