  • Time to bury Hugh Douglas now....

Lets see how the media treats this one. I Expect non stop coverage 24/7 of this horrible incident.

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Hugh Douglas threatened to beat up his ESPN colleague Michael Smith three times while intoxicated on Friday night, according to a report by The Big Lead.

He questioned the idea of Cooper getting counseling. If ESPN tells him to get it, I wonder what he'll do.

If he doesn't get fired first, he better do what they ask. There better be tears also just for good TV.

Why would the coverage of a current Eagles player be equal to a former Eagle who's on a low rated TV show on ESPN?

        Really poor logic here.

Also, of course, he should be fired...immediately

I think what Douglas did is probably worse from the standpoint of keeping his job. He seems to have directly physically/verbally assaulted a co-worker while intoxicated and as a representative of ESPN, his employer.

In terms of reasons to get rid of someone in the workplace, I think that would suffice.

Agree with Terp on HD being worse, Coop's a player, he gets paid to play, not talk, Douglas on the other hand gets paid to talk, he IS being asked for his viewpoint on things.

But honestly, my take on all of this racial BS, is just that BS, what ever happen to sticks and stones...... grow up, and get some thicker skin while your at it, I am so sick and tired of the media blowing up all this politically correct crap!

              That's not my point.

My point is that Cooper erred and verbally assaulted someone outside of work. He was wrong, but it wasn't in the workplace. What I've read about Douglas is that he verbally and possibly physically assaulted Michael Smith, his co-worker and apparently at an ESPN function i.e. "at work".

Gotcha, wasn't thinking as much about the workplace angle, I was looking more at the athlete/role model scenario. And you are correct, as an "at work" assault now brings the employer into it.

Hey, it's the fault of the "media". Who cares about how it affects you personally.

So let me ask you a question, do you feel it is OK, for blacks to use the term?

Is the word "White Trash" offensive?

I'm sure it is, I'm sure there are MANY other words that are just as offensive to people of all other races, whether they be Native American, Asian, Russian, Cubans, Mexicans, people of ME decent etc.

                            Your point?

My point is that every race uses slur words against each other in their own race but it has a lesser affect. If used by other races it has a worst result.

The N-word had no affect on Smith when used by Douglas imo. The word House or Uncle Tom adjective in front of N-word did.
