Agreed. Nothing wrong with that scuffle. It should happen more often. 'Bout time defenders start playing with a chip on their shoulders.

Cooper was cool too. Stood up for himself then walked away.

I don't care how tough the guy is, if he plays like shit his message isn't going to be heard.

Ray Lewis' ridiculous pre-game antics wouldn't have meant shit if he didn't play like one of the best LB's ever.

Maybe if Williams was a corner who people seriously considered to be even pro-bowl level, things would be different. But he's not. There are a ton of questions about his play and all that he's shown so far is that he can get in fights in practice.

I don't see that translating so well if he doesn't follow it up with his play on the field.

But what am I talking about - this is the Eagles. Actual play and results don't matter to a lot of people - just how tough they are, hence the love for the Buddy Ryan era.

Okay you are not sold on Williams being a leader here. Well tell me who is the leader here on the D? I'll wait.

Plus does it matter if Williams is a tough guy or not? The guy is only preaching what the environment he was in compared to this soft pussy shit. ..

Practice without tackling??? What kind of softness is that? Was that Chip Kelly or 1yr out the door Davis decision ? This team is too soft for even a bench or PS player from Pitt, San Fran, SEA, or Balt to tolerate this hot melting butter.

All I know is that Williams has shown to be irresponsibly "tough" when he was in Baltimore and has gotten into it with players at practice. He hasn't shown much value yet as a player on the field to the Eagles and he wasn't that spectacular before. Hopefully he plays well, plays tough, and plays smart.

I'm not sold that he's going to do that. I hope so, but I'm not going to praise him getting into it at practice because it's "tough".

As for practice - Reid's "one of the harder practices/training camps in the NFL" worked out to well to develop toughness and sure tackling, didn't it? I don't know how the Eagles will look this season in that regard but again, I'm waiting to see it when it counts.

part of the new CBA requires 15 minutes of 'timeout time' for anyone who gets involved in a practice tiff.

Wasn't Aso and DRC pro-bowlers? Look at their environments they came from.

Williams could be and probably is a mediocre player. My point is that he is from a Ravens set which is a smash mouth team on both sides of the ball, not like this finesse softy shit here.

So if he runs his mouth I have no problem with it because nobody else here is saying shit even this Davis guy. The practices are more tougher physically and mentally in Baltimore. In Philly it's soft tag football without tackling.

It's like moving some rich kid from the suburbs back down to the ghetto temporarily. That rich kid is going to run their mouth because he doesn't see any ambition from the rest

You wouldn't call the biggest pussy on the Eagles a pussy to his face.

And there are plenty of people on this team that would do just peachy in Baltimore.

If Williams is writing checks with his mouth and his tough guy practice act that his play can't cash, it won't mean jack fucking shit to how this team thugs up ... like Terp already wrote.

The Ravens gave up more yards than the Eagles last year on defense and were in the middle of the pack in terms of scoring defense. Cary Williams wasn't part of the Ravens of the early 2000's. Jesus, they gave up over 30 points twice in the playoffs.

                  But, image trumps reality.

I wouldn't even go face to face with a David Akers or a Reno Mahe if that's your stupid suggestion as being tough for me to compete against.

I am talking about "FOOTBALL PLAYERS AGAINST FOOT BALL PLAYERS" on the field you got that?

Plus name me somebody on this Eagles team outside of Cox that even had a chance to start on that D. Plus on the Offense give me a name on the O side. I willing to bet all you got would be a OL.

Based on talent/production - Barwin, Chung, Cole, Kendricks, and Ryans might all have a chance to start on the Ravens off the top of my head. Maybe even Graham. The biggest issues with Graham and Cole would be the scheme. The Eagles secondary last year is what was really terrible - combined with the scheme.

I really think you have a misconcpetion about the Ravens defense in 2012. It was decidedly average. Their offense is what won things for them last year - that and getting hot in the playoffs after really sucking at the end of the regular season.

You're giving Williams way too much credit for having not played a single real down for the Eagles by basing it off his previous play and his "tough" attitude.

Jesus Christ, Vick bulked up. Looked like he was about to beat the shit out of Williams.

He's behaving like a guy that that'ss not really invested in the Eagles. It's just another team in his NFL journey.

                            We've seen this before.

It's already getting old. He's not a Raven. They didn't want him. He had to get over it. I hate the whole defense is attitude concept. It's not. It's sound fundamentals. The 49ers don't have these BS scrums and they are a solid defense. Comes down to talent for your scheme. Birds don't really have it.
