His main selling points to me are his ability to deliver the ball when he knows he's getting crushed and his ability to come right back from a shitty play and keep his cool.

i went back and looked at some of his stats from last year.

he had a shit game against the redskins his first start...then played better against carolina and then threw for 300+ or something....then has a terrible game against the bengals...but comes back the next game against washington and throws for 345 and a td and int but missed that pass to maclin in the endzone...but also had a broken bone in his throwing hand in the second half.

so far...on a really, really small sample size...he's had a bad game and then come back with decent to pretty good games.

that's the big thing...can you come back from a bad game...or will you string a few bad games in a row.

we'll give it to Howie. he can recognize a basketball player with large hands and big feet!

i would love it if foles or barkley panned out as a franchise QB and eagles don't have to use a 1st rounder on a QB next year

Barkley supposedly has been showing a lot more arm strength that earlier this year and in preseason from what people are saying. his shoulder must have been torn to shreds and weak as hell but is getting a lot stronger. I know he's accurate as they come, so if the zip comes around we could have stolen him in the 4th.

Basically what I like about Foles is that he takes what the defense gives him.

Now maybe I'm elevating it with Foles because I'm tired of watching Vick repeatedly try to force his game on the defense, but I like qbs (and point guards) that let the game come to them.

That will be one draft pick he actually can get credit for in his last few years in Philly.

I'd say see what he does this week, if he has a game like TB then you ride him out and find out if he is your guy.

Let's face it Vick isn't going to make it a whole season and if for some strange chance we won the East this year he would probably get hurt before the playoffs

Foles can make the throws, that is for sure

again, i would prefer to find out if the franchise qb is here right now. just rule it out.

like, if chip is a genius...he'll make it work and it shouldn't miss a beat.

That's fine. He also drafted Jackson and McCoy (as well as The Great Riley Cooper!). He's definitely hit big on some picks and he knows QBs.

My concern is that once they get his tendencies down, the pick sixes will start coming. He throws some soft outs. But you gotta play him to find out.

yeah, that could be a worry...but then he would have to adjust. if he doesn't...then he's probably nothing more than a backup.

there is at least 9 games worth of tape on him so far...but i don't know if that's enough for most defenses to figure him out at least right now.

My concern is that they don't commit to finding if he has the goods because they don't let him play through that shit.

You have to play him a lot, not just dump him when some of that happens.

By that criteria, Slack Jaw and Favre would have been traded after a year or so.

Foles lover? No. But why waste a year with Vick when you can play Foles to find out if we should be drafting a QB next year? If Foles can play well, we could save that first round pick for a defensive player and improve the defense. If not, then it's time to prepare for a trade or scout for a QB of the future!

Playing Vick doesn't get us anything in a meaningless season. Sure, we have a chance of making the playoff, but do we expect to win the Super Bowl with our crappy defense? Hell no.

Different offense. The defenses are still trying to figure out Kelly.

                            I concur with this.
I still think Foles is not the answer in THIS offense, but I do like that he takes what's there.
One major issue with Foles is how well he plays is based on how well the line plays. In today's NFL (other than Payton and Brady), that doesn't fly all the time.

THIS is my biggest concern about Foles

Could FF really have gotten that lucky? Or if Foles pans out can we simply chalk it up to "a blind squirrel..."

It's interesting that Kelly and Shurmur tend to get good play out of their QB's but Vick is still struggling against strong defensive fronts.
