I tried to read that time line ... pretty muddled ... so I think this will shake out depending on how hard the press goes after him.

Meanwhile, there is a story that Hillary Clinton told Obama that she opposed the surge in Iraq for political reasons during the primaries, because she was running against him.

Let's see how that affects her.

In your comparison, Clinton held a political position in an attempt to be elected into an office while Christie (or his staff without his knowledge or control) abused executive power.

I'm not a huge fan of Hillary, and especially wasn't in 2008, but campaign strategies and positions are different from actual power abuses.

My focus was how politicians who engage is suspect activities for political reasons get treated.

Not a comparison of the activities.

But if you insist, it's arguable that a creating a traffic jam is peanuts compared to a person seeking an advantage in getting elected President by lying about her position on a war strategy.

But if you insist, it's arguable that a creating a traffic jam is peanuts compared to a person looking to get elected President by lying about her position on a war strategy.

Politicians consistently hold political campaign positions that they feel provide them the best chance for election - and then often change those positions once elected (for better or worse).

And while it's not admirable, ethical or clean politics, it's not an abuse of executive power for political gain or simply vindictiveness.


Gates, her accuser, also said:

“I found her smart, idealistic but pragmatic, tough-minded, indefatigable, funny, a very valuable colleague, and a superb representative of the United States all over the world,”

So, her campaign promises were shady, but her actions and behavior were admirable. Christie's actual actions are the problem here.

I am absolutely certain the vast majority, if not all, elected officials abuse their power and lie to get elected ... including previous and the current occupant of the White House ... and the Hillster.

My focus isn't whether they do it ... they all do ... my focus is on the pretty clear difference between the consequences for those from one side of the aisle versus the other when they get caught.
