There are some potentially cheaper upgrades out there

First off, I never liked Cooper but have come around some. The Vol fan in me hated him at Florida. He was unimpressive his first three and a half seasons, and of course he had his issue at the Kenny Chesney concert. I don't think someone should get cut for those actions, but if not for Maclin and Benn tearing their ACLs, he likely would have been. That being said, Cooper did really come on in the second half, but he is no Maclin (when healthy), Benn could be a surprise, and there are other alternatives out there that have been discussed in previous posts. I really think much of Cooper's production this year was by default. Someone had to run those routes, and with Chip's offensive mind, people are going to get open. Someone pointed out Cooper's production with Vick compared to the production with others. To me, that indicates that backup qbs threw to the backup receiver they had worked with the most. All in all, take him if he wants to come back for cheap, but do not overpay by a cent.

For real, imagine him as a foreskin...all these haters will hate he is gone then. Don't give me Arrelious Benn and Maclin(the ACL bros) It's a what have you done lately league, Coop just had 9 tds...he should be a priority the way he played.

I'd sign him if he isn't too expensive, he's a good #3. They could easily afford both coop and maclin if they want to, many ways to manipulate the cap

Jerricho Cotchery and Marvin Jones had 10 TDs. It's a passing league, marginal players are going to catch TDs.

Cooper had a very good, unexpected year, but now all of the sudden we're penciling him in as the next Art Monk if he goes to Washington.

It's ok to like a player but also be realistic about who he is. You're also allowed to see flaws in a player or not suck them off and still not be a "hater."

If they can get him back at a reasonable price after signing Maclin, great, bring him aboard, but by no means should they break the bank for Riley Cooper.

I want both Cooper and Mac back. I have to say I agree with Weizer on this. The guy makes plays. Given an opportunity even with VY"Dream Team" he made plays. Makes you wonder why Vick couldn't find him.

Eric Decker has Peyton Manning to inflate his stats and Thomas on the other side. He was average with Tebow(though not his fault)

Same thing with Jordy Nelson. Average with Flynn great with Rodgers.

I don't get why you are downplaying the season he had. What is the point really?

Did you miss where I said he had a very good, unexpected season?

I won't take anything away from how he stepped up this year, but Riley Cooper is not an elite WR. I'd love to have him back as the #3, but I can emphasize enough how they can't throw big money at him. The offense is going to work no matter what, that's what Chip does. He'll find someone to do just as good as Cooper in this O, because it's the system, not the player.

With all the holes on D, plus some younger players that you'd really want to resign before FA (Kendricks, Boykin, Foles) it is imperative that big money is not tied up with just another guy, which is what Cooper ultimately is.

I'm pretty sure they can't afford them both. Have you actually looked at the list of available free agent wide receivers? The going rate for starting WR's with their stats is around 25-35 million dollar contracts. However they want to play with the cap numbers, they can't afford 100-115 million dollars at the WR position for just three players. Jackson's was for 50 million.

                        Then why write this?
"Jerricho Cotchery and Marvin Jones had 10 TDs. It's a passing league, marginal players are going to catch TDs." Maybe these guys are good too, ever think of that? I would never call anyone, passing league or not, marginal after a 10 td year. I don't care what their name is, who they play for. It's not like it's powderpuff out there, guys are still trying to destroy you on every play.

I'm done discussing Riley Cooper with you. I don't think the guy is special. He's a solid player, and I'd like to have him back, but all is not lost if he's not here. You take that as a slight to Cooper for some reason.

This is just going in circles and I think it's clear Cooper is one of, if not your #1, favorite player. You're going to defend him and think higher of him than reality no matter what anyone says. There's nothing wrong with that, we all do it with our favorite players.

I have no issue with you or Riley Cooper, I just hope the Eagles don't give him as much money as you're ready to give him.

Final point...you keep pointing to his 9 TDs as a case for him turning the corner and being a top flight WR...James Thrash posted a 8 TD regular season in his 5th season, his first year with the Eagles...Ever hear of Patrick Jeffers? He caught 12 TDs in 1999 for Carolina. Do with that whatever you want.

On that note, I remove myself from the Riley Cooper discussion.

So what, he dropped a catchable pass in a playoff game, he also caught a td pass in traffic. Dude only had 2 drops all year and he is a great blocker for your boy McCoy. I am not really understanding why you hate the guy so much, just cuz you were wrong about his skills on the field from day 1? Or the fact he used the n word drunk(which he was punished and apologized for)
read the post. I said YOUR bringing race into this makes me think that's what you think. And you still have not provided any football reasons to keep him. Pretty much backing up my argument with your dumb words.

As I stated, he made some plays

That's a ridiculously indefensible argument against him.
I simply do not feel he is worth bringing back if you have a healty Maclin. I owuld rather see them pick up another player who wont choke in the big moment.

                                That is all.
