I gave plenty of football reasons to keep him. You are reaching for little reasons not to keep him...like something that happened 2 years ago and the 1 drop he had all season in the playoff game...while also refusing to notice the td catch, and all the other catches he had in the playoff game. And speaking of not giving reasons, who on the street would be better than him? And why spend a load of money on that when you already have a guy who likes it here and would take a hometown discount almost certainly. If you are going to celebrate when he scores in games(don't tell me you didn't) then don't come on here hating after we lose. Wasn't Cooper's fault we lost, he caught a td, Jackson didn't even appear til the 4th quarter.

So you're saying they couldn't afford adding 12 million a year for 2 wide receivers? 5 yrs 25 million for cooper and 5 yrs 35 million for maclin?

I don't think maclin will command that coming off the injury, and I don't think Cooper will command that much either, but using your numbers, they definitely could afford it. The cap is used as an excuse when a team doesn't really want to sign a guy. When the team does want to sign a guy, they can find a way to do it.

edit: they have about 19 million in cap room right now, and could easily add to that by converting some of Desean's and Lesean's contract to bonus.

There are tons of ways to save money, cutting Chung would save 2 mill, could also push cap figures for some players into future years (like next year where they will save 8 million by cutting Trent Cole.)

Yeah. I think that's a lot of money tied up in three players. I don't think Cooper is worth it. As others have said, he's just a guy. And if Foles turns out to be the franchise, he's going to be paid like a starting QB beginning in 2015. Not sure people appreciate the cap gift of a starting QB on a rookie contract.

They need to add a real pass rusher and a legit NFL safety. That's where I'd put the money.

Lots of folks have wanted a better WR opposite Jackson for a few years now. Someone even better than Maclin. Cooper is definitely not that guy. But for now, at least hang on to Maclin and continue to try to upgrade there.

Everybody is "just a guy"...worst logic ever. Nobody ever says who is a better fit than Cooper, just that he sucks and we can do better...well news flash, we were a playoff team and a top 2 offense with who we had...so who can we add to make that any better? I say keep what worked and add to the defense.

I would try to keep Cooper myself, but I don't think it's an unreasonable position to oppose overpaying him and taking a chance on another less expensive similar receiver in order to spend the savings on defense.

What overpaying is, I really don't know, but some of the people you're arguing with appear to be taking that position ... and it isn't silly.

On the other hand, many of them appear to be ignoring your contention that Cooper is more than just a guy in this offense and with this quarterback.

Cooper was fine. He blocks well and played fine. He did drop the ball...but whatever. The special teams sucked and the d was shit. That lost the game.

If he wants too much... yeah... let him go...but I'm not sure why people are saying "yeah....keep maclon and get rid of cooper".

Maclin has blown out the same knee twice. I wouldn't put any faith in that knee....or Benn for that matter. Hope they draft a guy and praying that month giant shows even mild talent.

True, not unreasonable...I could see the market pricing him out after the season he had...I wouldn't overpay for him, but I would give him a better deal than a gimpy Maclin. No denying what #14 did after Foles took over...he flourished.

We should keep Coop because he has the best hair on the team.
