    Lawyer guys: was this only possible bc of the victims family wanting mercy or how exactly does josh Brent only get 180 days when his buddy died at the scene and he was completely faced ?

        I don't know how this piece of shit gets 180 days with a previous DUI arrest.

        In June 2009, he was sentenced to two years probation and 60 days in jail as part of a plea deal from a March 2009 DUI arrest in Champaign County, Illinois.

              Judge must have had discretion in sentencing (ie. no mandatory minimum over 180) and I heard the mother of the guy who died made a strong pitch for leniency.

              Why?

              I have no idea ... but that's what I heard.
