I believe a lot of the reasons people think society has declined are not because they are old but because people get exposed to a lot more things than they used to. Also the current state of our mass media with YouTube videos, etc. allows more things a mass media outlet.

there was a little thought experiment done about two years ago. People were posed a singe question:

If you could steadily earn 75K per year in the modern US or 75K per year at the turn of the last century, which era would you prefer to live?

In 1900, 75K would pretty much put you in the 1 percent. You'd have a large mansion, live-in servants, access to the best of everything of that era. Modern US you would struggle to hold on to middle class status.

In 1900, many common afflictions would kill you. Even a simple hernia had no surgical answer. No antibiotics. It would take a month to travel across country even for the wealthiest. etc, etc.

Most people chose to live in the modern era. I certainly would. The past often looks rosier until you examine it more closely. I'm a little envious of millennials. The future has a chance to be incredibly awesome! I won't see it.

I just see a LOT of costs ESCALATING, and a lot of jobs paying LESS, technology is great, if you can afford it.

At some point all grocery stores will have automated self check out systems with no cashiers in site. Technology is awesome but it will eventually become the machines on the Terminator. We won't live to see though.

I think they likely told Zimmerman he was not allowed to take a gun into the ring to shoot the black guy once he started getting his ass beat so he backed out.
