No one suggested that Tebow should hide his religious beliefs. They were just cynical about his NFL Jesus marketing campaign.

On the other hand, it's pretty clear that you feel tolerance of sexual preference is more important than tolerance of religious belief.
There is intolerance to Christianity out there but it is a tiny minuscule amount compared to what homosexuals, Muslims, African Americans or pretty much any other group you can find face.
I am a Christian but I don't agree with the mentality that Christians are the victims or persecution mindset that so many have.

I seen there was a SNL skitand many peoples claim that tebow is out of the nfl because of his religion.
I have little doubt if michael is as good as tebow in the nfl he wont be on a team either.
I don't want to see any group ripped on for who they are. I just dont see it happening to christians the way it dies to other groups

Sam coming out to share his sexuality prior to the NFL Draft smacks somewhat of marketing as well. He spoke to his team in college and his team mates were fine with it he could have did the same with the team that drafted him. There have been many "Gay" players in the NFL but in this so called hyper- male display did not feel the need to come out.
Just please do not compare this to some kind of Jackie Robinson moment in sports because it is very far from the same kind of moment. As a card carrying member of the "I don't really give a shit" as long as it does not affect me. Sexuality should not define us in this day and age any more so than age, race, gender, religion or disability.

I think the recent peeks into the locker-room culture in Miami and Minnesota (the Chris Kluwe fiasco) validates Sam's desire to be open and public in order to allow clubs who'd rather avoid a very touchy subject do so with eyes open.
He's not Jackie Robinson, but he is someone who is going to make life easier for others in the future. Call it self-promotion if you want, but the NFL is all about self-promotion, and his brand of self-promotion is providing a version of role model that is completely lacking in the modern NFL. Christian kids who want to play football have lots of examples to look up to. Gay kids who want to play football do not.

I think Sam coming out was less marketing
