No need to be sorry, it's the truth. The sport is followed by mostly heathens, but Emrick brings an elegance to the game better than any other working announcer.
I love the Fox Sports pairing of Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery for college bball too, but for different reasons.
One of the the reasons why Gene Hart was so great is that he could handle a radio/TV simulcast. Back in the day they used to air his call both on radio and on TV at the same time. He did it in a manner that worked for both medias.
Not an easy thing to do effectively in a free flowing sport like hockey.
Hart and Harry Kalas both had the ability to let you know how the game and the play was going by the inflections in their voices and not just the words. They were also the best at describing a play as it was happening and not a secord or two behind like most announcers. They just had an economy of words.
