    Agreed.

    I think they could have replaced Cooper with a third or fourth rounder at a fraction of the cost. But 3 years/10M for a known quantity isn't breaking the bank so I can understand the signing.

    If I were Maclin, I would have gone free agent rather than gamble on staying healthy.

      I think the draw on Cooper was that he's one of those downfield blockers that turns a 15-yard run into a 60-yard touchdown. I like that they kept both guys...I really think Maclin will do well.

      By Maclin's own account, it sounds almost like there's a handshake agreement to extend him in-season if he's healthy and productive. He might figure he's only 8 games from a long-term deal.

      I can see testing FA, of course. But if he likes it here, likes Chip, likes the offense...I can see why he might feel like this will be the best place for him.

      Says a lot about this organization that guys want to stay. It's not the Banner area any more.
