So stupid it doesn't really deserve a response. Have people forgotten that Maclin has never broken 1000 yards or ever been able to beat double coverage?... which he rarely saw because all the attention was on Jackson.
Are people 100 percent certain that Maclin will even be as good as he once was?... which to be honest was merely decent and not great anyway.
If the eagles lose jackson they're back to the Todd pinkston/Charles Johnson era of wide outs.
Once again I'll suggest that if Jackson is a pain in the ass and Kelly can't handle a player with an ego, he doesn't belong in the nfl and won't last. I don't believe that's the case.
Philly sports journalism has taken a serious tumble in recent years. Hard to read any of their garbage. Time was the town had some of the best sports writers in the country. Not anymore.

But there are many others that would likely take a pass; especially given the deep draft and the reluctance to take on his baggage.
WRs are a dime a dozen; and while he does have special talent he can also be menstrual and some teams just won't go there.
That doesn't mean they are right or wrong or better or worse, it just means they won't bother.

McLane says this is BS.
But after checking in with almost a dozen sources from around the league, it's clear the Eagles aren't interested in dealing the 27-year-old Jackson - not by a long shot.
Theories on the True Detective killer have nothing on the Jackson rumors.
Are the Eagles thrilled about what Jackson does during the offseason and how he broadcasts it on social media? No. Were they happy when he sat by his locker the day after the Eagles lost to the Saints in the playoffs and told wave after wave of reporters that he thought he was "deserving" of a new contract? No.
But these are small potatoes. Would the Eagles have to reconsider their position if Jackson did something that was an actual serious lapse in judgment? Of course. But when has he ever done anything to suggest he is capable of such behavior? Never.
The basic facts are:
Jackson is coming off a career year in which he caught 82 passes for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns.
The Eagles were the second-ranked offense in the NFL in 2013 and set franchise records for points and yards.
Jackson is slated to earn $10.25 million in base salary in 2014 - a large number but certainly in line with his production and where he ranks among the NFL's top receivers.
The re-signing of receiver Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper has nothing to do with Jackson. The Eagles planned on heading into last season with all three, and even if Cooper is now a larger part of the offense, he offsets the loss of Jason Avant. There is more than enough offense to go around and Maclin still has to prove he's healthy and Cooper has to prove 2013 wasn't a fluke."If I was racist in my opinion of QB's, I wouldn't have a dog named Donovan." - downundermike

I'm just saying they have roster flexibility, based on who they have and what they're paying. If Maclin plays well and they add a promising guy in the draft, they might look to hold down costs after next year when they're confronted with an extension for Foles.
And I don't think this is some sort of Earth-shattering revelation, either. All teams are adding a little younger talent at every position as they go along.
Really, the way we should be looking at it is this: The comparative youth and (if Maclin resigns) favorable contract status of other players means the Eagles probably won't find themselves absolutely forced to keep Jackson if he demands another extension or experiences a production nose-dive.
People are making a bigger deal of this than it is, especially the writer who (sort of) puzzled it out. Most notably, any notion of Jackson being in any way superfluous (and therefore tradeable) is TOTALLY contingent on Maclin being healthy, productive and locked in long-term. Otherwise the team runs the risk of having a hobbled Maclin (on a 1-year deal) and Cooper as its top receivers this season, which would be an amazingly huge mistake.

I don't think anyone is off limits for a possible trade. IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT
I see Djackson if Mac has a great year being traded next season.
I also am tired of his bs whining about his contract. You know thats going to be a ongoing theme this season. Its just DJackson, 10.5 mill to stretch D and what a whopping 9 tds. In this offense hes going to get looks but the ball will be spread around.
If a team maybe like San Fran thought he was the missing piece to take them over the hump and the offer was outstanding I think they could make the deal. like their 2nd round picks. I would do it and draft Lee - who will be a #1 wr that will stretch defenses and would make you forget about the whiner very fast
Thats likely not happening so yeah this topic is over blown and a mute point.
Another thing to consider - do you really think he is going to be more tradeable next season. I don't so yeah if they get offers they should listen since they can replace his speed with a bigger body in this draft.Last edited by iowaigglefan; 03-06-2014, 03:16 PM.

If and its a big if
I really like DJackson as a player but his whining is over the top at times for the value he provides at this point and the dollars he will be looking for. Be sure you will hear the whining all season long as he does not get the looks he thinks he should to boast his numbers to get the Eagles to tear up that contract and give him a whopping new big one.
Personally im tired of that BS. So if they got a chance to trade to a team that thinks he is the missing piece to Super Bowl for good value i would see them doing it in a heart beat. Someone like San Frans 2nd round picks for him.
Who here thinks hes going to be easier to trade next season after a year of whining. It would amaze me if we were to get value for him. I could see him just eventually being cut. Which they could do without a huge cap hit.
Bottom line who here would not trade Djackson for 2 2nd round picks - knowing they they could use one of them to move up and draft a player like Marquise Lee who would quickly make you all forget about the Whiner very fast and still have two 2nd round picks to address the defense in this draft. Lee is as fast - bigger and a good route runner.
So the discussion of this possibility is not that far fetched. Do i think the Eagles would do it they get a chance I hope so. They can address defense in this free agency spreading the money around wisely -- going after one teams fAs -- Chris Clemons excellent coverage S and a hitter - and prob the best DT in the business Randy Starks
All of the above and signing Jones and drafting some studs for 2nd round on would be the icing on the cake of a very productive off season for Chip KellyLast edited by iowaigglefan; 03-06-2014, 03:47 PM.

DJax was a top 4 WR this year. You must be on bath salts if you think it's a lock that the Eagles draft a WR that has top 4 production in his rookie season.
Bottom line who here would not trade Djackson for 2 2nd round picks
DJax does more than stretch the field. He abuses DB's all over the field. Granted, he's not going to go over the middle, but to act like he's just running Go routes all day is just silly. They might be able to draft a burner, but he's not going to have DJax's ball skills. They should worry about trading players that DON'T fit the scheme, not guys who are F'n amazing in this offense.
* The basic premise of the Eagles' offense last year was to attack with the run until defenses showed they could stop LeSean McCoy and company. When defenses committed more bodies to the box, the Eagles did their damage over the top in the passing game. That's why they had the best rushing offense in the league and the best downfield passing attack. Trading one of the best two or three vertical threats in the league would be an enormous blow to the way the system operates.
* The Inquirer reported that Jason Avant often had to act as a mediator between Jackson and wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell. I don't doubt that, but both Jackson and Bicknell should find a way to work things out. Even with the disagreements last year, Jackson had a career year. Four wide receivers had at least 80 catches and averaged at least 16 yards per reception: Jackson, Calvin Johnson, Josh Gordon and Alshon Jeffery. In other words, Jackson is not as replaceable as some might believe. The move is to make the relationship work, not cut ties because there are some disagreements.Last edited by Melchior; 03-06-2014, 05:19 PM."If I was racist in my opinion of QB's, I wouldn't have a dog named Donovan." - downundermike

First it was a what if -- what if they could get 2 2nd rounders - not that they will but what if --- and then draft LEE -- I would take that in a heart beat.
Fans i think get married to players. I know I do - but face it this offense spread around to various wrs when Foles is dealing. My point number 1 2 3 it dont matter everyone gets envolved. I beieve Jackson will be doing his pathetic whining bs the entire season next year. Because he will be wanting the ball more to build a case that the Eagles tear up the final two years of his contract and give him a huge raise. Ok you tell me how much should he make for his 9 tds and 1300 yds 15 mill a year hes making 10.5 and its going up next season.
Sorry I dont see that ever happening so may as well get what you can get if you can get it. The longer it drags on the more his value will decrease with regards to a trade. Will my example come true sadly not im sure. But if they were to be able to lose the whine and get two 2nd rounders and draft a LEE to replace the whine -- im sure the front office would be all over that.Last edited by iowaigglefan; 03-06-2014, 07:37 PM.
