They suggest his stats against the pass don't account for the fact that he's been asked to cover TE's and slot receivers much more often that most safeties. His tackling needs to improve--and maybe he is what he is and it won't--but perhaps some of his missed tackles are due in part to having to break off from deep coverage to provide run support more than lining up in the box.
Most significantly, it sounds like he has the smarts, communication and leadership skills this team has been lacking for some time to make the entire secondary better.
He's no Byrd, but it appears he's no Chung, Coleman, Allen, Sims, Jarrett, Page, Demps, Jones, Harris either. Well, one can hope.
