Because keeping a player for the sole purpose of having to be the big-brother to another player is a foolish way to run a football team.

If this FO is so inept, that they'll let whether or not Jason Avant is a member of this team, be the reason for or against cutting DeSean Jackson, then it's worse than we might perceive. No one else in the organization can handle D-Jax except for Avant ?? Really ?? Everyone else is at a total loss to the point where they just throw up their hands and say, "oh well, we just cut Avant, guess we better look into trading DeSean, and if that doesn't work, guess we got no choice but to cut him."

Except when he has press coverage over top of him...then he virtually disappears. See the KC, Denver, and playoff game last year. His 3 worst games and all 3 teams employed a single man press coverage until the guy got hurt for N.O.

Shady McCoy disappeared in the playoff game against the Saints. Let's cut him. Bum. Come to think of it, Shady had a shitty game against Denver, too.

When you can take DeSean completely out of the game with one defender it allows a defense to solely focus on shutting down Shady...Football 101

                  Shady isn't a diva, though.
