There's a Les Bowen article on phillynews today with a more complete quote and some feeble ass covering attempts by Les. Too lazy to link. It's not hard to find.

Still not keen on the high school stuff and I don't think it contributed to his success. But he did turn out to be a very good hire to this point. Can't argue with that.Blue Chip College Football - Coach Your College to the National Championship

He is gone. They don't want to pay him 10.5 million and they can't pay him that much next year if Foles will command money. The draft is stacked at WR, so they have decided to move on and fix it now rather than wait for later. This is not complicated. They spend 24 million on WRs and 75 million on offense without paying a qb, they will not pay him 10.5 million after this season and he won't restructure. They might as well be done with it and start the process now rather than a year from now.

Jackson is now on three consecutive 1 year contracts that will pay him 10 million per year. Compared to other receivers in the league, it is just about on par with what he brings to the field. If his production drops, he's gone or will restructure downward. Plus, over the next several years the top WR salaries will rise and Jackson will be out of the top 10 highest paid anyway.
But this is year to year now. Not a bad deal for the player or the team if the production continues as it was last year. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't unless he gets hurt.
The idea that Jackson is somehow overpaid is silly. He's not underpaid either, like he was in 2009 and 2010.Last edited by The Ref; 03-26-2014, 10:19 PM.
