No it isn't ... everyone loves everyone and we will now all join hands and sing.

A lot of people (not you) try to deny that racism still exists.

He must think his audience, mostly NY, doesn't know his disingenuous bullshit.
I see nothing in this article that indicates the writer knows anything about Philly sports, or about football in general. It seems like an editor said to himself, "Gee, people seem to want to read about DeSean Jackson....which of my writers doesn't have anything to do today?"

I actually agree with much of his premises, but his complete lack of any idea what he's talking about comes through in just about every sentence.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I agree with his premise with regard to the gang issue, but there is some stuff in there that, upon re-reading, has me really scratching my head. Jackson is the team's best player? He seems to argue that it was a mistake or a risky gamble to give the reins to Foles. As someone mentioned, his target audience must not be Eagles fans. It must be people whom he thinks will accept those "facts" at face value to help bolster his ultimate conclusion. I don't think he needed to do that.

To be honest, I get a little more annoyed each time I read it.

some of the other criticisms of Rhoden's article I agree with, but getting released thirty minutes after the article appeared is the link. since the eagles won't confirm or deny that, people are going to go with it. it certainly makes sense.

My point is that the article implied a cause-and-effect relationship.

While timing is suspect, as you noted, the relationship has yet to be established. Maybe I'm missing something but I still have yet to see anywhere stating that the Eagles released Desean due to the contents of the article.

the timing means that they knew they were never getting anything in a trade so they released him

I appreciate your contribution but I think we're talking about two different things.

Here is the sentence in question...

"The NJ.com article that led to his release by the Eagles said Jackson’s gang connections involved a friend in Los Angeles who was said to be a member of the Crips and who in 2010 was charged with murder. "

the cause-and-effect relationship I am questioning is that the article saying he was in a gang led to the Eagles releasing Jackson.

Since it has never been stated that the reason for his release was due to the content of the article, their statement is pure subjective reporting.

you believe in new organizations, right?

that fact that an employee of Calkins Media would dump on the NYT corporation boggles my fucking mind.

I understand your need to use NYC as a means to bash IE, sometimes you just make yourself look foolish. Are you suggesting this article is written in this way because of a pro-NY, anti-Philly bias?

I think we both know it doesn't work that way.

                          Please

I guarantee this clown would be raked over the coals if he wrote a column or story that said a Philadelphia team did the right thing. Praise Chip Kelly and then wait for the call from the Sports Editor's office.

New Yawkers live to hate Philadelphia -- they have for all of my soon-to-be 64 years. That includes those years before I was old enough to understand the catcalls, taunts and jeers from The Big Crapple and its fans who lived in our neck of the woods as they insulted Philadelphia's sorry ass teams and the fans -- like me -- who were stupid enough to support them.

And please don't tell me you don't know what I'm talking about -- the only way I would be surprised about something written by a reporter for IE's favorite newspaper is if he had the balls to say, "New Yorkers, you're wrong because Chip Kelly and the Eagles..."

You can fill in the rest.

                                Says The New Yawker

Why would I expect anything different?!
