I think public relations and the appearance of supporting social justice guarantees him one year on the roster. After this season, most people will forget about him, and if he fades out of the league, no one will really be able to raise a stink.

After the obligatory one-season-public-relations-free-pass, I really think it's gonna come down to whether he can contribute anything on the field....which is kinda the point, I suppose.

You come on this board and want to be the most macho guy here, like any of us would give a shit even if you were. The bottom line is that you and snakebitten are see through. Faux tough guys who want the world to think that you eat nails for breakfast, quick to try and put down people around you who think progressively and actually choose to live in the 21st century instead of the 1800's. Neither of you do a good job of fooling me or anyone else on this board that has half a brain, but keep it up, it's mildly entertaining.

But Jeff fisher will give him every opportunity to make the team.

do the other 7th round picks have less than "every opportunity"?

The point is that it's all going to be on Michael Sam now. Jeff Fisher is only going to take into account his football skills. All the other stuff in regards to his sexual orientation will be a moot point, even though some will swear that if he gets cut, it will be because he was gay.

Except that, as even Kelly Green pointed out, it's not.

First off, you don't speak for everyone. Second, you try too hard. The last time I checked, I haven't threatened anyone on here. I just have my own opinions. I don't see people with labels attached. Apparently, you do. You keep trying to convince everyone how politically correct you are. You're not a progressive thinker. You're insecure in your own skin. As a result, you get 'offended' and chime in with your typical shtick. It's annoying and played out. If you think only two of us hold that opinion, you're kidding yourself.

I have to side with Snake here, even if he did ruin any potential credibility I may have one day had on the board haha. Just because everyone isn't comfortable watching two dudes make out on national TV (on a sports show, no less. We're not talking Will and Grace or The Real World here) does not necessarily make someone a homophobe. Some people get uncomfortable seeing straight couples engage in PDA. Does that make them a heterophobe? No.

I'd also have to believe that if Sam cares what anyone thinks about him being gay, he wouldn't wear a pink shirt, sob uncontrollably, and kiss his boyfriend on TV. If Sam's comfortable doing that, and ESPN is comfortable showing it, then EiO should not get his panties in a wad just because some people don't feel the same way about gays as he does. You got the equality moment you wanted (although it has been known that gays have played in the league before, so this isn't as trail blazing as everyone wants to claim it is), so you don't really have anything to complain about.

I never once said that Snakebitten was a homophobe. What you had was Michael Sam, a man who has worked his ass off for one thing, and that is to have an NFL team call his name on draft day. It was the moment where all of the hard work and dreams finally came to fruition. It was an emotional moment that he shared with the person he loves. That person just happens to be a man. My point of view was that if the exact same scene had played out between Michael Sam and his girlfriend, this notion that his reaction was "over the top" would not have been introduced. Clowney cried. Anthony Barr cried. One draft pick cried and damn near brought his kid on stage with him. Were those reactions over the top ? What's the difference between those displays of emotion and Michael Sam's ? Oh yeah, Michael Sam kissed his boyfriend while doing it. Snakebitten was the one who typed the words "it was like a gay wedding on ESPN. My God. We get it." HE typed that not me. So before you blister your fingers typing so fast, jumping in to defend someone, and trying to get off one liners about somebody getting their panties in a bunch, make sure you read all of the responses carefully and understand what's being said. The fact that we seem to share different views on homosexuality itself is not an issue for me at all, I just disagree that the scene with Michael Sam was over the top like he insists it is.

I don't need a schtick, my man. What you see from me on Igglephans, is the exact same thing you would get from me if we were face to face. I say what I say, and feel what I feel, and I don't fake any of it. This is not about being politically correct. I speak my mind and that's it. I am completely secure in my skin, which is why I never fake anything. Some people may not like Eagle In Ohio, even though they've never met Kevin, the person I am when I'm not on this board. The issue, is that if they don't like Eagle In Ohio, chances are they won't like Kevin, because they're one in the same. This is it, man. What you see is what you get, take it or leave it. It might be annoying and played out, but that's what it is. If you don't like it, don't post a reply in my threads and you won't have to worry about it.

I can't speak for Snake, but I think what he is saying is over the top is the excessive amount of times they have replayed him crying and kissing his boyfriend, not just that it was shown. The viewer understands he is gay. They don't have to see him crying in a pink polo and kissing a dude 40 times to realize that. They barely showed Clowney and Barr crying. I believe the fact that it's getting shoved down the viewers' throat is the point of contention. A 7th round pick would never be the story of the day if he wasn't gay, and his being picked overshadowed every other pick of the draft. Hardly anyone watches the draft hoping to see a civil rights statement. They wanna know who their teams get and if he's any good. Clearly he wasn't very highly thought of, but you'd think he was the number 1 pick by the coverage. I personally think he isn't even the most interesting pick from a non-football perspective the Rams made. They drafted a dude that used to work as a janitor in their dome. Barely a peep about that. But we've seen Sam kiss his boyfriend more times than we've seen his highlights.

And I don't see how you think I was going for one-line zingers, but your blister line was certainly an underwhelming attempt at a one-liner.

As a neanderthal, I insist that people call me a neanderthal with a silent "h". It adds a certain je ne sais quoi.

That ESPN and these other networks wouldn't show Michael Sam's draft moment over and over again, then I really don't know what else to say to you. It was not a civil rights statement, but it was the breaking down of a long standing social barrier in one of the most macho settings of our society. Sorry, but that's gonna get more than a few plays on the four letter network. Stick to the hot 16's, kid. Stay out of grown folks business.

I thought the video clarified that the cake smashing was over the top. Hence, the gay wedding comment. See, that's where you see that type of thing happening. If it still doesn't register, I don't know what to tell you. You keep bringing up two guys kissing.
