You, on the other hand, seem hellbent on defending him. To each his own...

I think there is alot of phoniness going on."You'll get nothing and like it!" Judge Smails

His disdain for PC guides him.

Something about that bothers you quite deeply. So the least you can do is be a man about this and stop lying about not caring about whether a race of people can use public pressure to get a team to change their racist moniker. You do care about this. You have railed on and on about it for weeks. Your claiming you dont care is the most phony thing going on in this discussion.

I think the reason that the board is so against the name is just to give a rival shit about something.
That being said, the name is racist and could merit a change. I have some Cherokee ancestry, but I don't really identify as a Native American, so it doesn't personally offend me. But I definitely see how the name is offensive to some.
Alternatively, the name has been around for a long time as a strong brand and barely any fuss has been made until recently, and society in general does go too far with political correctness.
The name probably should be changed, but faux outrage gets us nowhere. Internet "activism" is pointless, toothless, and a bit oxymoronic. I like professional football, so I will continue to watch regardless of team names and mascots. I will also root against the Redskins at least 12 times a year. For those truly offended, real action should be taken. For those not, we can still needle the team as racists, or you can just not give a shit about it and not whine about political correctness. Vehemently arguing either side of it on the internet is silly.

I think there is alot of phoniness going on in society today and this board is no different. Aside of what your heard, i am not a racist. I dont think half of the peop,e on this board even know the definition of the word. Calling someone a racist has become far too common in society today and it has been a crutch for minorities to shut people up.The truth is incontrovertible.
