its the internet. Plenty of all types. Narrow the search criteria to the exact time you want and weed out the liars. Can usually tell a lot in that first phone conversation, also.

I'll say to you what I always say to friends who are thinking about online dating but worry it's lame: imagine meeting a great person you really connect with and want to date, and they feel the same way. Does it matter whether you met them in a bar, or a friend introduced, or whatever, vs. some web site? Or course not. If you're looking to meet people, it's one way to do that. And it's not like it prevents you from meeting people offline, either.
I met my current GF through a more traditional method, introduction by a mutual acquaintance. But all online dating is, is introduction by computer.

Tinder is GPS-based which has helped it earn its rep as a banging app. It's set up through Facebook so you don't have to create a profile. But your Facebook page doesn't show that you use Tinder, that's just where it gets your first name and pictures. You swipe through people's profiles. You only know someone has viewed your profile if they like you and vice versa. The anonymity of Tinder and the fact that it's an app, as opposed to a profile where you create a login, write a bout yourself, etc., have led to it being by far the most socially acceptable form of online "dating" between young people. That same ease is why it's viewed as a banging app. You skip a few steps in the process and instead of banging after 3 dates you bang after 1 or 2.

I was on it for a little while once but swiping through profiles became too much of an addictive waste of time. A bunch of my friends are on it. Every group of friends has one Tinder guy. One of my buddies has gone absolutely bananas since breaking up with his longterm GF. His first Tinder date was this fairly hot Filipino chick. He also set his Tinder to a 1-mile radius at the Charlotte Phish show, which yielded no matches, but was funny.

I was thinking about setting that up but was unsure about the interaction between that and facebook. Can you control which pictures appear on the app?

I know that you do pick your pictures from Facebook, but I'm not sure how. But if you're wondering if your Facebook profile while show that you're using Tinder, it won't. If someone views your profile it will tell them if you have any mutual friends(or interests).

Yeah you can choose up to 6 pictures I believe. Each time you open the app usually the first 3 to 5 girls you see are ones that "liked" you. You can also control the age group and radius. Pretty much every single girl I know is on Tinder, it's the greatest.

A good friend's sister met her serious boyfriend on Tinder which stunned me. It left my friend wondering what that guy was up to, somewhat unfairly, because he didn't think anything of his sister being on there.

I think Tinder is a lot like these other websites where the girls say they're not going to bang too soon...but they often don't really mean that.

I know quite a few people who ended up in relationships via Tinder. I think it was originally designed to be a "hook up" app, but it's evolved from that. It depends on what you're looking for really.
