    Assault statutes often include the seriousness of injury as a component of degree.

      I don't know that I have an opinion on it either way, I was just surprised to hear that you could knock someone out cold (on tape no less) and literally walk away with no repercussions, legally.

        Pre-Trial Intervention is not "no repercussions." It's just not jailtime and a felony conviction.

        I wouldn't conclude that this was celebrity justice at the moment, based on facts currently available.

            It didn't rise to aggravated assault under the statute so no jail time for first offense of simple assault. That's my understanding.
