I attended a football camp on Long Island while in HS. Nate Newton made an appearance one day. At the conclusion of practice, he brings the whole group together for a little pep talk. Then he starts calling out individual kids for their performance.

Thing is, for every kid he singles out for positive encouragement, he picks two kids to just totally rip apart. He told one kid the basketball team was going to steal his girlfriend, told another kid he was too small for the sport, and the grand finale was making a kid standing up, sighing dramatically, and announcing "You're just terrible man. Give it up."
