Let them find another marginally better DC to be this secondary's next scapegoat. Sounds awesome.

Agreed. He has a long track record and it's not good - just average?
Of course, losing D. Ryans was a real killer, and he makes a big difference.
But why keep an average DC, with the results he provided in overall defense being poor?
Can an old dog learn new tricks?
      Well, maybe IG has.

Here's a thought - Our Defensive Backs AND our Defensive Coordinator BOTH SUCK HORSE TESTICLES! We need improvements in talent and scheme. Amazingly, in the NFL defenses can improve or worsen drastically from one season to next (Think Carolina last year to this or Dallas' improvement this year)

There's better options out there. Loyalty gets you shit canned.

Doubt Rex Ryan or mike smith would take a DC job in 2015 but I'd make sure they told me no 10x first.

              Doesn't Smith run a 4-3?

Think so (and a shitty one at that)

But, DE is a strength as things stand. Graham and curry as true 4-3 ends looks good on paper. But Marcus Smith is then miscast. And I've seen enough potential from him to build a 3-4 around him. Should be a 5 time pro bowler, minimum.

Kelly made it clear neither Davis not defensive backs coach John Lovett is in trouble.

"Everyone is evaluated,'' Kelly said. "I'm evaluated. I really like our coaching staff. We all get along really well. I think we have a lot of good teachers here.''

Is better than the other teams most explosive player(s) matched up alone with Fletcher, right? I think Davis can be a good coordinator and has probably maximized what this group is capable of. He still kept trotting Fletcher out there time and time again like he was expecting a different result.

You didn't listen to what Kelly said. To paraphrase, even though he thought "Davis did a really good job" he also said "all evaluations haven't been done yet." So it's possible that while all of these firings go down, he could find a more competent DC in the league. Remember when Reid endorsed Sean and then 10 days later fired him? The other thing is, if he does stay, let's see what he does with better talent on the team.

How many times does Dez have to make him his bitch before he gets a clue? Worst ball skills of any NFL corner I've seen in awhile too.

Boykin should be starting. They can move him back inside when they go to nickel but damn. More and more sickening as the season went on.

On Sunday, with Fletcher inactive with a hip injury, Davis assigned Cary Williams, the Eagles’ penalty-prone but more capable corner, to Odell Beckham Jr., and while Beckham made some big plays, the Eagles got out of the Meadowlands with a win, and Williams made more plays than Fletcher has all year.

It was a departure for Davis, who had kept Fletcher and Williams on one side all year.

                          With disastrous results.

“In hindsight, I don’t know, maybe put Cary and match him up more next year, I don’t know,” Davis said. “Or [I should have] more the last couple weeks.

“But we did what we did (Sunday) and they still passed on us way more than they should have.”

Davis saying shit like "well maybe I'll match Cary up more next year. I don't know" How do you not fucking know? Cary Williams isn't Sherman, but keeping Fletcher Island out there by himself was not the answer.

However, he could be saying that because he knows whoever he put out there of the group they had (except Boykin, but as Davis told us plenty of times, there's NO WAY Boykin can move outside, what with him being short and all) it was doomed to fail.

Smith played DE at Louisville. Cox would probably be even more of a beast at DT. But I don't know, it would take another 2 seasons for the players to fully learn and be comfortable in the scheme.

Nothing matters with a shit secondary though. I hope a few easy INTs haven't fooled them about Nate Allen...

IMO the worst part of that quote is Cary Williams and next year in the same sentence…

I hear what you're saying, but truthfully, Williams isn't a bad CB technique wise, he's just an idiot. Think about his big plays he gives up. They're PIs and illegal contact. He's there to make a play, he just makes the wrong one. Rarely does he get truly beat.

If they signed Maxwell and drafted another CB, I wouldn't hate the thought of Williams being the #2 guy for one more year while the rookie learns the game.
