QB Bryan Bennett

I heard Jaws speak about SELA QB Bryan Bennett the other night and maybe he is just reading between the lines but this could be a good fit for the Birds. Chip recruited him to Oregon but he decided to transfer when Chip took Eagles job.

Of course this is a highlight package but would be worth a peek when they show QB at combines.

The reality of getting Mariota is not likely to happen and between Foles ability to stay healthy as well as his pending contract situation, selecting a QB in the near future is a necessity.

I thought he transferred when Mariota got the starting job, not when Chip left. I am not impressed by the level of competition he's faced at SE Louisiana Tech JuCo or wherever he was.

That being said, he seems like a nice Round 5-6 developmental prospect.

As for a Mariota trade, the Eagles will certainly explore the following opportunities to draft him:

1) What would it take to get to #1 pick (virtually impossible)
2) What if he falls to picks 4-7 (interesting...but still pretty improbable)
3) What if he gets past pick 10? (My thought: book it for a move up)

There seem to be a lot of decent prospects at the Eagles' areas of need at or around #20:

Waynes
Collins (both S Landon from Alabama and the OT/OG Collins from LSU)
Perryman
Even some WRs if Maclin and/or FA don't pan out.

I agree with you and Pete about Mariota and the pressure on Chip to find an alternative in the event Foles is inadequate.

It is understandable that Chip would make some effort to get Mariota, even with the very low odds.

Bennett played in the Senior Bowl and did not wow anyone although he did get some hype during practice.

If they draft Bennett, does Chip trust Barkley enough to be the #2 on a playoff contender?

Or might Chip give up on Barkley and try a reclamation project with Jake Locker + Bennett or Barkley. Locker played at Washington ; )

If Chip really does not like Foles does he trade him to the Rams who reportedly are interested? This way the birds would get something for Foles-- maybe a second. I assume the eagles would resign Sanchez to be the starter while Locker and/or Bennett develop.

Any chance Kinne has earned the #3 QB spot due to his work on the practice squad?
