  • Sticky Fingers

The news of the upcoming Rolling Stones tour and re-release of "Sticky Fingers" made me pull my vinyl copy of Sticky Fingers (with the acutal zipper... yes it's that old--I bought it used) out of the archives.

"Brown Sugar" has gotta be one of the filthiest songs without using profanity I have ever heard.

"Bitch" is a provocative song title too.

Imagine the reaction if they had released it today.

Pretty great record. Riccardo must hate it because they have a sax player.

    R U kidding,,,? Great album

we had a nice set of stones..Honkey Tonk women,,sympathy FTD, then Bitch,,one of my fav songs to play on the bass, Brown sugar was in there too..

Hendrix wrote a song called Dolly dagger about his GF Hartley , every time the stones were in town she would go Fuc Mick,,,in the song he refers to it...She drinks the blood from His Jagged edge!

Love the walking lines in that song..so well written

        Agree.

Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in a market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver know he's doin' alright
Hear him whip the women just around midnight

Brown sugar, how come you taste so good
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should

Drums beating, cold English blood runs hot
Lady of the house wonderin' where it's gonna stop
House boy knows that he's doin' alright
You should a heard him just around midnight

Brown sugar, how come you taste so good
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should

Brown sugar, how come you taste so good
Brown sugar, just like a black girl should

I bet your mama was a Tent Show queen
And all her boyfriends were sweet sixteen
I'm no school boy but I know what I like
You should have heard me just around midnight

Brown sugar, how come you taste so good
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should

I said yeah, I said yeah, I said yeah, I said oh
Just like a black girl should

of the many times I saw them, that was the first and the best... the Sticky Fingers tour's stop at the Spectrum.

Some guy named Steve Wonder opened for them and may have been just as good or better than them.

BTW, I made reference to "Brown Sugar" in my book. It came out as a single right around the time Red Klotz and the Washington Generals handed a 100-99 loss to the Harlem Globetrotters in Martin, Tenn.

"Moonlight Mile" is probably my favorite Stones song, with the exception of everything on Exile.

I guess I'm just a member of the hoi polloi here

Just give me Sympathy for the Devil and Gimme Shelter and I'm happy.

Guess it's Vinyl Day for me.

Just put on Emerson Lake and Palmer. That one never made the transition to my iPod but fun to listen to on vinyl.

Toss in Heartbreaker and I would say that's the top three Stones songs.

I got Heartbreaker on a 45, no pun intended. May have to put that one on.

They are geezers but they have far more than three good songs.

I was always a Beatles fan as a kid but I think the Stones may have surpassed the Beatles as far as body of work is concerned.

Having said that, I still think the best Beatles songs are better than the best Stones songs.
