Better off not cutting him. Then every day he doesn't show up he loses money

          This will not end well.

I actually think he has a lot of leverage, much of which the Eagles gave him when they cut Herremens. Without him, I'm very concerned about our O line.

Mathis is already one of the top three guards based on pay, he is 33 going on 34, and being available for a trade garnered no takers. Leverage, what leverage?

Not much leverage...I think at a certain point he loses a year of eligibility and has to make up that lost year.

What a dolt...he's had two years to find someone to trade with and Nada.

No. I'm not. And based on what I know about Chip, I think Mathis is as good as gone.

However, I think that's a huge blow to our offense. Mathis knows this, and he's exploiting it.

Now it's time to groom another guard and have this person work with rest of the OL.

Mathis did the Eagles a favor by doing this.

They tried to bring in Chris Chester

and I imagine they are combing the free agent and potential trade options very carefully.

I am not sure how this thing got so ugly, but I imagine Rosenhaus has something to do with it.

It's absolutely amazing that they didn't address this in any way @ the draft.

A rookie to take over for Mathis at the same level? The draft was going to be need as it relates to value. No need to take a third round Mathis replacement if the Eagles didn't value any guard that highly (and at the expense of another guy they wanted).

Youre correct. I'm not saying they could have or should have drafted his replacement, but to not even think about Oline through 7 rounds was a mistake...especially with the oldest line in the NFL.

Mathis has been obsessed with money for a long time. Even before he became unhappy with his contract, he was publicly griping about paying taxes all over social media.
