Might be a better option than Florida - too stinkin hot in the summer

Charleston is pretty nice. A lot of my family has started to migrate down there so I visit a lot. My parents got a place down there because driving to Florida is too far and it's too hot during the summer. Charleston gets hot but honestly I don't think it's all that different from the Baltimore/DC area I'm in - just a longer season of hot.

The city is growing and it's a nice mix of historical beauty with modern expansion. It's different from Atlanta or Charlotte in that they've really tried to keep it's historic appeal.

Mt. Pleasant is the nicest suburb and is located between two of the primary beaches and the city. (15-20 minutes most to either location depending where in MP you are)

And the area is only about 2 hours from Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head.
