Sure, this pertains to last night's game but it's actually the NFL in general.
After so many years of loving this game, last year I found myself losing some interest and emotion due to the terrible officiating that seemed to affect just about every game played. No longer was the outcome just determined by the players, but more so by the capricious calls of the officials. So many bonehead calls that had a huge difference in the final score. Whether the calls were from total incompetence or the "McMahon Factor", who knew; but they happened in practically every game.
It all came to head in the cowpies/Lions game; which I believe to this day was fixed. The final minutes of the 4th quarter of that game were way over the top in terms of belief. You just can't get that many calls wrong in that short a time with the outcome on the line. Fortunately for Goodell, he had deflategate to take away anyone's attention from trying to re-visit that debacle.
I saw 5 games this past week and can't say the situation has gotten any better. After every play you hold your breath waiting for the flag, deserved or otherwise to come flying out. Last night's Iggles game certainly was showcasing this situation.
The bottom line is that the experience of watching an NFL game is slowly sliding downhill and no one seems to care to stop this shit. I long for the old days when players went onto the field to beat the crap out of each other, and when a penalty flag was thrown you knew damn well it was deserved.
