  • When would be the best time for the Eagles to sign Bradford to a contract extension?

In my mind, both sides in this situation: management and the player have interests and risks at stake here.

Many people say Bradford has nothing to lose here by playing out his contract.

But I think he does have something to lose. He has another contract with guaranteed money to play for.

If he goes down with a season ending injury early in the season... or a major injury late in the season. that could basically be the end of his career. On the other hand if he gets through the season with a great year and relatively injury free the sky is the limit.

It is apparent to me the Eagles have been interested in an extension, but at this point only at their price. So both sides have skin in the game.

Maybe they can get a deal done some games into the season if Bradford is healthy and shows something.

This situation is one where it would be good to still have JoeLo around, IMO. Although there would be a high possibility he would insult Bradford and his agent with an offerand screw the whole thing up.

If he plays well and doesn't want to work on a deal, so he ain't going anywhere if you ask me. I think this gives the team an edge given he could take it for a huge single season payoff, but still no security. But I think if he plays well and we succeed he will want to stay with Chip, so they will work something out.

Is Bradford the Best Qb for Chips sys is a good question

still one that needs to be answered, when you think the zone read, is Bradford right for this System,,and who wouldn't want to get a 13 mill $$$ Audition,,,Which is essentially what this is...I like Sam, think he has a good mind and a good arm,,he's not going to threaten a defense with his feet.

Unless he takes a low ball deal, I wouldn't negotiate before the off-season. Lots of quarterbacks could win in this system. Not a priority.

Offer him less than the franchise tender for a one year deal this week, and then work out something longer term in the offseason.

Good point. I mean, how many starting QBs has Kelly been through already?!? And he has had about the same level of success with each one.

I will always belive that Kelly traded for Bradford as a potential bargaining chip for a deal to get Mariota. But Mariota never dropped in the draft.

He only threw 4 balls past 9 yards yesterday.

              Oh, wrong thread.

Have to see where the guy is Week 6+

After teams have enough film to gameplan for him.

That backfoot throw INT at the end of the half could be the real guy at this point.

If Bradford isn't signed by whatever week is needed to count some salary towards this year's cap number, it's a big mistake. Otherwise, letting Mathis walk was a huge mistake. There might be an argument for Herremans as well.
