Provorov is the real deal. Watching him tonight in his first game was fun. The kid can skate with speed, has the hockey sense of a grizzled vet, nice offensive skills and is very good in his own end. Nice outlet passes on the tape and able to skate the puck out of the D-zone. It would not shock me if he makes the big club this year.

Excited about the Sixers as well

Got a down low banger. Stauskis could be a great two. Covington has a nice outside shot. If Noel can be effective at the four they're going to be fun to watch as well.

It will be completely surprising if Provorov makes the big club this year, considering the Flyers currently have 8 Dmen under NHL only contracts, and he ain't one of them.

The only one who has a shot, and it's only because he's been in the system and developed more, is Morin. But even at that, he'll probably start the year in LV.

If he's as good as everyone says he is, why did he drop to 7? Honest question.

            He was a later bloomer.

Hanefin was considered the #3 behind mcdavid and eichol for almost the entire year and then provorov started to change opinions.

Hanefin probably went higher because he is 6'2" 200lbs and was 17 at BC and could probably get a bit taller and bigger.

The reason people liked Provorov is that he did everything well but is positionally...per a few scouts..."elite".

also, most teams will also take an elite forward or scoring player before a d-man unless they really had a need for one.

another way to look at it is like this....Nicklas Lidstrom is probably a top 5 d-man of all time. He would have probably won a few MVPS...but...because he's a defenseman...he didn't. I think since 1972 (bobby orr was mvp) only one other d-man was mvp and that was pronger in 2000 I think.

            People love their forwards.

Oh, and the skids are being greased for a Luke Schenn trade.

Nice explanation. If WE can hit on just a couple of these young defensemen in the system, WE'LL be in good shape.

Provorov, Konecny and Sanheim all sent back to juniors.

Yup. A bit surprised that they didn't get a longer look.

Hextall's been preaching patience. Doesn't seem like a Snyder trait though.

his hands for a lot of it.

I can't wait for Hexy to jettison some of the lugs that are holding the team back. Homer=Amaro Jr=Joe Banner. Start with the old guys, then the Schenns (Luke preferably).

As it was, I thought the team had a lot more zip in the game last night than they did at any time last year (including preseason.)

Btw, the 3 on 3 OT is really great to watch. Lots of open ice...
                            You're my boy, Blue.

Did you see that new camera angle that pans the length of the ice? Is that something new for this year? Kinda like the wire floating cameras in the NFL, but the one from last night kinda seemed like a drone.

Also yea, I think this team is gonna be in decent shape in the future, especially as Hex is able to purge the Vinnies.
