  • IE's travel tips: converting Celcius to Farenheit

So you're traveling in Europe and you want to convert degrees C into degrees F. But you don't want to do the fractional multiplication and division or you find the official formula hard to remember.

Here's how you do it to get an easy approximation: Take the temp in C, double it. Then subtract the first digit of the doubled temp. Finally add 32 to that number.

You will end up with a very close approximation of the temp in F. Not exact, but pretty dam good over the normal range of outdoor temps!

Or, you can use your smartphone. But I like this when I'm outside and see a thermometer.

      Hahaha

      35 x 2 = 70
      70 - 7 = 63
      63 + 32 = 95 degrees F

      Also,

      (1/X) x (Y/1) = 1

It's all the same at -40. The only place I'm going at that point is the Caribbean.

You'd be more interested in a travel tip for playing golf in Europe ... so ... when you have a golf course in meters and you want to convert to yards you take the first number of a distance under 100 meters and add it to the meter distance for yards.

              Thus 80 meters is 88 yards (80 + 8)

If it's a distance over 99 meters take the first two and add it.

              Thus, 144 meters is 158 yards (144 + 14)

              Also, when playing in Spain:

MIERDA!!! and CARAJO!!! are permissible substitutes for FUCK!!!
