also, hiring this coach would lay much more accountability at rosemans feet. it would be real hard for roseman to blame any future failures on an accomplished coach like coughlin so thats another positive for me.

based on those things, and how unimpressive the other candidates are at this point, im intrigued by the prospect of hiring coughlin.
Coughing can't hold Howie accountable when he is losing games due to his coaching blunders. Did you not watch him coach this year?
No thank you to Coughlin. Hell, I would rather have Duce become Head Coach before Coughlin.

I can't believe this shit is being entertained. I guess I'm in the minority. The fans will make this guy stroke out.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

I want to replicate a Steeler model. Hire the right guy and let him coach for 15 years.
Even the FF lovers and revisionists have to admit his time here was done. Same with Coughlin. He was good at Bahston College and cost my Irish a national championship. Took an expansion Jacksonville team to within one game of the Super Bowl, was solid in NY and has a spectacular playoff record.

Yeah he's old but not too old IMO.

dont worry I cant see it happening

Howie is probably already lobbying against it.

              why???

he would have great incentive to beat the Vaggies, knows the NFC East, is a proven coach and proven winner.

Would not do cartwheels over that choice but at least you know you are getting a good football coach.

My main thing with the next HC is that I want somebody who will have as much stature in Lurie's mind as HowLo does. Kelly way overplayed his hand but this time it was way too easy for HowLo to blame Chump.

If Coughlin was to get the job wouldn't he tell Howie to go jump in a lake?

Howie knows this and since he's the one doing the hiring, I see it as doubtful.

Hopefully he gets Lurie's ear and convinces Jeff to get a real GM.

And I'm sure that TG would bring along someone he would intend to have replace him in a few years.

                    They could do much worse.
Did you see what Jerry Reese has done to the Vaggies roster? If anythinng, he should have been fired over Coughlin. He let it happen, so I'm not sure why you don't think he'd let Howie do the same?

I would rather have any of the others than Coughlin.

I wouldn't even let him have possession of the remote control anymore let alone coach The Eagles.

One thing Coughlin does very well is turn a team or program around to positive. I still remember that day Boston College upset #1 Notre Dame. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs.

I don't remember who it was that said this but I read a comment that Coughlin would be well suited for success in the corporate world if he chose to do so. I cannot disagree.

Jerry Reese, recent flaws aside, has built

a Super Bowl winning team. Yea, they blow now.

What has Howie ever built other than a little bridge with staples while he sat in the corner of the NovaCare complex planning his resurrection?

TC as the coach for a year or two while he grooms his replacement wouldn't kill me. The team is going to blow anyway. Do people think Doug Pederson is going to come in here and the team suddenly goes 11-5?

Jesus, at least Tommy Boy could be a bridge until someone really shakes loose as a viable head coaching candidate.
