I like your line of thinking. IF Coughlin were hired, more than likely this would be his last stop as far as coaching goes. I think he'd walk in the door with the idea of being here 3-5 years tops. I think he could get more out of the current roster than any of the other potential candidates. Hopefully the Eagles have a good draft, fill some holes in FA, and have a solid 2016 season. Then he can make the case to Lurie that "I need a more football oriented GM (like the one I had in NY) to take the next step."
Also knowing that he's at the end of his career he might be more willing to most to put Howie in his place if it needed to be done.
