  • Nice read by David Murphy on why Eagles shouldn't take EE at 8

I'm in the "wait for a RB" contingent 99% of the time (was a McNabb over Ricky Williams guy back when we had dial up pings and Soul Glo Jheri curls were all the rage). But Elliot seems like one of those generational talents.

Frankly, unless it's a damn near can't miss once every 5 years player like AP or Gurley I'd never consider a RB in the first.

When you see some hard #'s and historical data like this it makes you never want to take a RB in top 20-25 picks no matter who it is. Way more bust than boom.

Good read and good logic. I'm really hoping the pick is Stanley. I still wouldn't be upset if I hear Zeke's name though.

I want Hargreaves 1st, Stanley 2nd. Hargreaves is such a talent and has some "dawg" in him. Love that kid.

I may have officially reached "never sign a cowboy" levels regarding using a first round pick on running backs. Like Nancy Reagan said "just say no!"

Hard to argue with that. We're not exactly in a position where we can afford to swing and miss. Agree about Hargreaves and Stanley. Conklin would be No. 3 for me. All seem pretty safe.

If the Eagles took Williams, Mark Brunell was going to be the QB, and you and TGP wouldn't be such emo girls because the Eagles would have won more than one Super Bowl in that NFC Championship games window.

Huh? That makes absolutely no sense.

How would Brunell have been in philly in 1999 when Williams came out? He was entrenched as a legit starting QB in jax for years at that point. Eagles didn't have a shot at him by then.

No way is Stanley gonna be there. He will be selected probably around #5. If he's there, he's the obvious selection

Just draft one of these guys:

                        Jonathan Williams

                        Aaron Green (Shady Jr.)

I would be shocked if they go running back at 8, but not necessarily disappointed. OT, CB, QB makes sense.

Also, are the 6-10 positions loaded with blue chip players like Howie suggested? I'm not so sure.

Quote from Howie RE: drafting RBs -

"There’s this narrative that you can get running backs in the fifth, sixth, seventh round and undrafted free agency...look back at the last ten years of guys that are really in the top ten in rushing, those guys are high picks."
