This is CRAZY talk. You guys are talking about HOCKEY. It's a sport that's entire history has promoted, authorized, condoned and demanded aggressive behavior, inspired raucous fan participation -- it's like the Colosseum...
When the players engage in it, which they do.... Gudas, White, even everyone's NEW FAVORITE CLASS ACT WAYNE SIMMONDS that was being trashed as classless scum a couple weeks ago...it feeds the atmosphere of intolerance and riotous disruption.
Since when has a hockey game been an environment where fans are to be seated, patient, understanding and inclusive? It just is not the product the NHL sells however much you wish they would. The product is physical, nasty, overpowering domination and that translates to every fan in the arena. The premium seats are those where you can sit against the glass and slam your fists.
Throwing bracelets on the ice that were meant as a gesture to honor the person that brought hockey to Philadelphia? Getting their team assessed a penalty for throwing said bracelets? Booing a player who couldn't get off the ice? Yelling obscenities during a moment of silence for their founder in their own building after Flyers fans just dogged Pens fans for doing it in Pitt?
