Depends. There is a financial benefit to going to the Lakers immediately, but, if by the end of his rookie contract, the Sixers are perennial contenders and he is a bona fide star, it may not make as much difference. It will always be more lucrative from an endorsement standpoint in LA and NY than anywhere else, but you can make plenty of money in other major markets if you are a star. There's a good chance KD is going to stay in OKC. If he cares about being a champion and the Sixers are closer than the Lakers, then he should stay. If all he cares about is the $, then I'm not sure I want him in the first place.

If his head is on straight then, I agree, it should be Simmons. Don't you have questions about that, though? I'm feeling more comfortable with it. Hopefully he realizes he has a chance to own one of the largest cities in the country if he wants it.
He has skills that Ingram can't be taught, whereas, if he is inclined to, he can become a better shooter and defender. That's how I look at it, all things being equal. "All things" really being his desire to be the best and not just the richest."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

One thing I will say about this - he may have been able to will his team to the tournament if he didn't spend so much time facilitating. The times I saw him play, he was pretty unselfish. He could have scored 30/game if he wanted to and maybe the team would have been better off for it. I don't know. But he tried to get the rest of the team involved, and the rest of the team was not very good. I'm not sure I'd knock him for that."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

Ingram wasn't even best player on his team. Total overanalyzingI'm not the hill you want to die on

I thought about Lebron in HS. But Lebron has that MJ drive to be the greatest. I've seen nothing to suggest that Simmons has that, but then again, maybe I'm unnecessarily assuming the worst. I couldn't care less about the shoe stuff. Who wouldn't want to play in LA and get the best deal from Nike possible?"Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

Agreed - to your other point, I wouldn't compare Ingram to KD, but I would say that is his ceiling. A really lengthy guy who can create and hit any shot. That's your hope. But, yeah, Simmons talent, overall, is superior. I'm basically talking myself into Simmons haha."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

I'm sure an 18 year old LeBron wouldn't have been the happiest in the world if he was forced to go to the NCAA instead of skipping the BS and heading to the league.
Could Simmons have handled everything better? Probably. Would any of us, at 18 or 19 with the NBA salivating over us and millions of dollars being kept from us for a year because of some sham rule, have handled it better? Hmmm...
