I used to be a Lebron hater, but I've come full circle. The Decision is probably the worst thing he's done and I think he knows that and would do it differently if he had to (meaning the whole production and TV bs). Otherwise, the guy is never in trouble, does a ton in the community. Last year's finals made me appreciate him way more as a player. He carried a team of scrubs to two wins over GS. I'm really looking forward to this series and I'll be rooting for Lebron.

He laid out his plan to them during the hiring process (there go that word again).

They knew what he was going to do and they initially were on board to take the criticism from it. But, like you said, his robotic nature in regards to dealing with players and agents plus the continued pressure from the press and fellow owners became too much for Harris and Co.

I wish the transition was handled differently, because I am grateful for the assets that Hinkie accumulated for this team, but when it became clear that the elder Colangelo wanted his son running the show, there really wasn't any room for Hinkie anymore.

Losing to win works perfectly fine, in a vacuum, but when you have investors, fans, media, other owners, players etc. who are affected in the short term, it becomes near impossible to see to completion.

The good news is, from what I've heard from Colangelo so far, he's not going to rush out and throw max deals at mediocre players just because. He's going to sign more veteran stopgaps than Hinkie did and continue to build that way while being slightly more competitive.

Agree. It's no different than a publicly traded company - it all comes back to your investors and what they want.

            Like I did Kobe's.

But I can't root for the guy as a person. Too arrogant. The whole David Blatt thing? Constantly undermining your coach in public is not a good look, regardless of whether or not he was actually fit to manage them.

Fuck Cleveland too. 3 #1 picks in 4 years? I'm still salty about that. And of course they moved Wiggins because LeBron wanted KLove.

Besides Draymond the Warriors are a lot more likable from top to bottom.

I get that the product was awful this year

I watched most of the games. The disparity in talent was embarrassing.

Still, you're not winning shit in the NBA without superstar(s). You know this. Would you rather make the playoffs every year for the next decade and get bounced in the 1st round?

Eh, yeah that's not the most admirable trait but it's not uncommon among superstars in the NBA. Magic was notorious for getting coaches fired. Blatt was in a little over his head and LeBron wants to win. For better or worse, LeBron is the Cavs. They need him waaaay more than he needs them. Just reality. If that is his worst trait, that ain't too bad as professional athletes go.

When was the last time a team drafted a guy number one overall and he won a championship for that team? Duncan?

                    a top pick guarantees nothing.

is kind of arbitrary. I'd look at top 5.

Even then I don't know how many there'd be because only a handful of teams have won championships in the last decade. Still, if you look at the teams that are consistently competing most of their star players were high picks. And I sure as hell don't trust this FO to find any diamonds in the rough...
