Jah Embiid and Noel are likely not all going to start, so I doubt Saric is the 6th man.

why would I use Bill Walton as an example...

...if I thought you meant all passers?

I still dont know how you can call him an "elite" passer ...for a big man...based on approximately 40 minutes of seeing him. Again...where do you rank him among bigs as a passer. Enlighten me. Thanks

        he same one you did

the interior D and to a large degree, the passing down low wont come into play on how he will be used for the Sixers. He was slow and got beaten to the ball and the spot outside where his defensive assignment was shooting from. That's not going to change as he gets older. Yes his shooting can improve (cant get much worse) and yes...its only one game. Again, I hope Im wrong. But very little to get excited about yet from what I saw.

I'm guessing from your comments that this is the first time that you've ever seen him play. He's just a solid all around basketball player. Ideally, he is our Draymond. He can pass, rebound, shoot well enough from deep that you have to respect his shot (40% from 3 this year) and is an adequate defender. I don't know where you get this idea that he's going to be guarding the perimeter from cause he's not. He'll be a high energy guy that will get after it and will probably quickly become a fan favorite.

Ranking him as a passer is absurd. Your mind is made up on him and he hasn't played a single game for the 6ers...

I think IG is just a hater. Judging Saric on one game is absolutely ridiculous.

                Watching him play...

I just think that he's one of those guys that isn't entirely incredible at one thing but just a master of a lot of the small things that contribute to a team. The sorts of things that don't jump out on a score sheet but win ball games. Thing is, he is a decent shooter from out beyond the line. Not Steph Curry great at it, but good enough where teams are going to have to respect his shot from out there.
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

youre the guy who called him an "ELITE" passer

yeah...that is pretty absurd after one game. but once you use a word like that, you should back it up, is all I'm saying. Sounds like you are just hyping the guy and really have nothing to substantiate it.

and I think I was clear that I hope I'm wrong but the first impression was not good.

                    that is all.

I guess that St Blows education did not include reading

said from jump street you cant judge him on one game. Just a first impression. However, another guy here is calling him an "elite" passer for a big man after one game...go figure.

and yeah...first time. How many times have you seen him? I simply came away with a first impression that was not even close to the hype he has received. Apparently some of those who ahve bought in take exception, that's OK everyone is entitled to their opinion. Im just not (yet) seeing anything to get excited about.

He is an elite passer as a big man, meaning he's better than most big men when it comes to seeing an open shot for a teammate. To put a number behind how many other big men he is "in front of" is dumb and can't be proven positively or negatively.

I'm "hyping" a guy who I said would be a role player?

                            bwahaha

                            got it...an elite role player...

to me the term "elite" means at the very top of the best...if not THE best, then top five...in my mind that word DOES have a number attached to it...or at least put him in a class with others you deem to be "elite."

                            its all good.

Again...I hope he winds up being a positive addition to the team who sticks around.

More than that, I hope this team can start to win...and this guy can help.

                            That is all.

To be fair, JJ Redick and Korver are elite spot up shooters and are both role players. Scott Skiles was an elite assist man, but was a role player. Bruce Bowen and Tony Allen were/are elite defenders but were/are role players. It's entirely possible to be great at one thing but not be more than a role player.

But anyway, I'd be lying if I said I've watched enough of Saric's game to know he has "elite" vision or passing abilities for his size. It's been a talked about part of his scouting report and he's shown that he could maybe develop those skills into "elite" but for now, we wait.

FYI...Saric had another solid game yesterday against Brazil...15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists
