If Ryan Mathews could stay healthy all season (he can't) I'd feel a little better about things. They just have nothing on that side of the ball. Barner looks good but you can't expect too much from him if he has to be an every down back. I'm hoping they'll make a play for Desean after this season. He's getting older but he can still fly and he belongs in green. I hate Kelly for that.

it's amazing how shitty the wideouts are. Like, you get that training camp guy that wows but is probably garbage and never does anything in the league.
They don't even have that guy this year. It's "eh".
Assgalore...i'm remaining optimistic because it's his second year and he's a first round pick, but that was not encouraging...even if it was just the 1st pre-season game.

There gonna be a lot of Celek, Ertz, and Burton on the field together with just one (shitty) WR
3 yards and a cloud of dust baby.

I was not impressed with Agholor. People have made the comment re: wide receivers, and I agree with it, that with really good receivers you can tell that they have "it" in their first year. Desean and Maclin were both like that. Maclin wasn't amazing in his first year but you could see that he was a player. I don't see anything like that with Agholor.
On the bright side, Wentz looked the part. He has accuracy issues but he was in command. Making the reads and getting the ball out. Obviously has a big arm and he can run. If he can work out the kinks maybe we got our guy.

Didn't look over-whelmed either. Imagine if they get wide outs who don't stink. I do think that Matthews still has a chance to be good.
Joe Walker, the LB from Oregon, looked pretty decent as well. Made a couple good plays getting into the backfield.
They'll need to find players with their later round picks considering what they did end up trading.

I'm the same with Matthews. He's a beast after the catch. It's the catch part that's a problem haha. Agree about the linebacker from Oregon. Funny that we had to wait until Chip was gone to get a duck that looks like he can play a bit.
His footwork is a little wonky. But if he gets more confident in the pocket (a lot of it could have been the eighth-string protection in front of him) that should clear up.
that's what I liked...and more athletic than I ever would have thought. The moment was not too big for him either. Very encouraging start overall, IMO
Officially awaiting Douchebagnacht II since
May 7, 2010
There's next to no chance of that happening. The guy has been a solid backup for two teams and is Pederson's guy.
There's only one scenario where Daniel isn't on the team, and that's Bradford having such a good year that they decide to keep him, Wentz is QB2, and they draft the backup of the future.

Im not sure that I'd call him a solid backup. You're right they might keep him as a 2 if Bradford goes - assuming he's better than he looked last night. But it will be Howie's call, not Pedey's. Daniels already got his payoff.
What are the cap implications of dumping him next season?

I was at work, so I only caught the highlights after so I couldn't see the flow of the game. But he definitely moved around well.
It looked like he was a little late on a couple of balls, but that'll improve with experience. He might have tried to make up for it by throwing fastballs when he didn't have to.
It looked, to me, like his problems had to do with getting over on his front foot. You can't always do that, of course, but when he didn't he definitely missed high.
I don't mean it to sound like I'm down on the kid. Not at all. But I think you can definitely see the lack of career reps.
