Seems like throughout the offseason we've been hearing about the near certainty of Mathews, Matthews, Kendricks, Kelce, etc being cut or traded. They're all still here.

Supposedly he needs to pass a physical and/or the Eagles need to reach an injury settlement with him for them to part ways in a salary cap friendly manner. Les B. and others have stated the Eagles just can't cut him until he passes a physical. I don't know the reason(s) why.

A couple of guys here mentioned that Howie said Matthews was cleared during one of his press conferences over the weekend. I listened to it, and Howie did said the word "clear", but not "medically cleared". It was ambiguous, he was specifically referencing rehab and working out. I came away from it as unsure as I was before I heard it.

They didn't have any interest in Charles, that's apparent. And I don't think they want Blount with his SB ring, his 18 TDs, and his rep in that locker room. I doubt they go to the scrap heap for a runner, and that's probably for the best. We've been down that road before and it always makes for shitty football. Better to go young when you can, see what you've got.

My best guess is, they're keeping Matthews through camp and they'll give Clement every opportunity to win that job from him.

As of May 1st Mathews hasn't passed a physical (according to kempski). He's not playing for the eagles this year. They need his salary to pay the draft picks.

Whether he will pass the physical it or not, and if the Eagles say he has ... whether he will contest it, I cannot answer ... but the reason he hasn't been released appears to be so the Eagles can avoid paying an Injury Protection Benefit that was negotiated in the last CBA.

Never thought about D Williams . Pittsburgh drafted a cpl. running backs. Maybe hes not in the plan this year.
