But they are using it as an excuse for the state to dictate what can be taught and not taught, does that sound like a free and fair education? We should teach them everything we can, good, bad, or ugly, because if we don't. the same mistakes will be made over and over.

IMO, I doubt that Critical Race Theory is being taught in public schools, and yes it is probably being used as a example (escape goat) for not teaching theoretical and subjective material in the future.

Speaking for myself, I happen to agree that public schools aren’t the correct forum for teaching subjective, evolving disciplines like psychology, sociology, Critical Race Theory, religion, etc. That's for higher education.

Basic objective material should be the predominate teachings of public schools. Math. Science. English. History - all of it. Hiding history and facts are the stuff of political infomercials (news).
